Good to know

Practical notes

  • Three days of high passes before the summit means far better acclimatisation — and higher summit success — than the 2-day trek.
  • Expect 5–7 hours of walking a day over genuine mountain terrain at 2,000–3,900m.
  • Full mule support and a mountain cook accompany the group; you carry only a day-pack.

Frequently asked

Is the Toubkal circuit better than the 2-day summit?

For most people, yes. Crossing high passes for three days first acclimatises you properly, so you feel stronger at 4,167m, and you see Lac d'Ifni, remote valleys and Berber villages the express route skips.

Do I need technical climbing skills for the Toubkal circuit?

No — outside winter it is non-technical trekking with no ropework, just sustained walking at altitude over high passes. A good level of hiking fitness is the main requirement.
