Overview
A relaxed guided day hike from Imlil (1,740m) through walnut groves and Berber villages with tea in a local home. Easy walking — about 3–4 hours and 300–400m of gentle ascent; suitable for most fitness levels.
The perfect introduction to High Atlas trekking without the altitude or the early starts. A 90-minute drive from Marrakech brings you to Imlil, the trailhead village below Toubkal, where you set off on foot with a local Berber guide. You wander up through terraced fields and walnut and cherry groves to traditional villages such as Aroumd, with the snow-capped summits as a backdrop, and stop for mint tea and home-baked bread in a village house.
This is genuinely easy walking on good paths — a few hours with modest ascent — so it works for families, casual walkers and anyone wanting a real day in the mountains rather than a tourist viewpoint. A mountain lunch and the transfer both ways are included.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Is the Imlil day hike suitable for beginners and children?
Yes. It is easy walking on good paths with only 300–400m of gentle up and down, and the guide sets the pace. It suits families with school-age children and anyone new to hiking.
Can I combine the Imlil day hike with a visit to a waterfall?
Yes — we can extend the walk towards the Imlil or Sidi Chamharouch area, or arrange a separate Ourika and Setti Fatma waterfalls day. Just ask when you book.
How fit do I need to be?
Easy. Light walking on medina cobblestones, plus optional activities you can opt in or out of on the day.
When should I book?
For high season (Oct–Apr) and any trip involving the Sahara or hot-air balloon, book 8–12 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.
